In grades 8 and 9, a choice can only be exercised in the language learning areas.
1. Language: AFRIKAANS
Met Afrikaans is daar 'n keuse tussen Huistaal en Eerste Addisionele Taal.
2. Language: ENGLISH
By Engels is daar 'n keuse tussen Huistaal en Eerste Addisionele Taal.
3. Mathematics
4. Social Sciences
5. Economic and Management Sciences
6. Natural Sciences
7. Technology
8. Life Sciences
9. Agricultural Studies
10. English Additional Language (for learners taking Sepedi or Xitsonga)

Learners may apply to take more than seven basic subjects, but this is subject to approval and certain requirements.
This application must be submitted in the previous year, with the necessary motivation.
All grade 10 to 12 CHOICE SUBJECTS are presented in dual medium. This means that classes are presented alternately in Afrikaans and English. Questions are handled in the learner's home language, and tests and examinations are written in the learner's home language.
